Privacy Policy

Our commitment
Navon does not track you. We do not collect personal data, we do not use analytics, we do not have advertising, and we do not require accounts. The app is designed so that everything works without identifying who you are.
What the app sends to the Navon server
The companion app contacts the Navon server only when you use HSL (Helsinki Region Transport) routing. Those requests contain the origin and destination coordinates of your trip so the server can relay them to HSL’s Digitransit API and return route alternatives. The requests do not include your identity, a device fingerprint, or any persistent identifier.
Server logs
The server retains short-term logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) solely to detect and prevent abuse of the service. These logs are never shared with anyone, never sold, and never used for any purpose beyond operations and abuse prevention.
Third-party services
Navon relies on independent mapping and routing services to show the map and plan routes. When the app sends requests to these services, they operate under their own privacy policies and may receive your IP address and location data:
- HSL Digitransit (Helsinki Region Transport)
- BRouter (OSM-based bike routing)
- OpenStreetMap and OSRM (map data and routing)
- Apple Maps (map display and routing on iOS)
- Google Maps (map display and routing on Android)
Navon does not control these services and is not responsible for their data practices. We recommend reviewing each provider’s privacy policy if you have questions about how they handle your information.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here. Because Navon does not collect contact information, we cannot notify you directly of changes.
